    Great Experience

Spent a lovely day with Ruth in January. Lovely lady, very knowledgeable and good teacher. Very happy to help in any way she could. Learnt a great deal about the process and about how Ruth, and Jo, got into glass fusing. I did feel that although interesting to hear personal histories, this section could have been shorter so that we could spend more time working. None of our group finished on time and were all there beyond 4:30. Would thoroughly recommend and cant wIt to go again.

Excellent workshop . Ruth was great .

My daughter bought me a Workshop session at Jo Downs Launceston , 3 of us attended for the day , not knowing what to expect it exceeded all expectations . From complete novices to a good understanding of fused glass in only 1 day . Ruth was fabulous , her enthusiasm infectious and her knowledge incredible, her teaching was inspirational both technically and creative . Huge selection of materials available to use plus unlimited imagination which Ruth helped make into reality . We could not recommend enough . All team members were very friendly and helpful and enjoyed their work and wanted to be there. We intend to go for the intermediate class, have a fun day and build on our knowledge . Would not hesitate to recommend … note photos are before firing , can’t wait to see the end result .

    A unique Christmas gift

The workshop was an amazing experience and a lovely insight into my favourite glass art. Ruth was very informative and patient and even though initially I felt rather out of my depth, she was very reassuring. I enjoyed creating my cute seahorse and love how he has turned out. Thank you.

    Very informative day

Ruth's enthusiasm and passion for the art of glass design is fantastic. I have just a small suggestion. It might be better if complete novices are (just for example) offered a choice of one of 3 items using 3 different techniques to make? I felt the tuition part was a little too extensive and didn't leave enough
time to design and make what is after all, an expensive item.

    December Workshop 2024

I had an absolutely wonderful time at the glass fusing workshop at Jo Downs this December! It was such a special day, full of creativity and learning. Ruth was an incredible teacher—patient, talented, and so inspiring. She guided us through the entire process with ease, making sure we felt confident while experimenting with our designs. Highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking to try something new and creative—it's truly a memorable experience!
